Math and Science Teacher Partnership (MSTP)

Math & Science Teacher Partnership (MSTP)

The grant contract awarded by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) provides state funding to the Service Cooperative for the purpose of developing a statewide Teacher Center infrastructure on the improvement of mathematics and science instruction and learning to fulfill the requirement of the 2007 Minnesota Statute 122A.72 Teacher Centers.  This first year of the grant will place emphasis on the improvement of mathematics instruction and learning for teachers in grades 6 -8.
The Teacher Center will use quality professional development and technical assistance to assist teachers in:

                Learning about effective pedagogical approaches to implement Minnesota’s content standards;

                Mastering the use of multiple instructional approaches to differentiate instruction as well as engage students; and

                Improve skills to diagnose student learning needs using assessment of student performance.

The partners of the Service Cooperative in the endeavor are Hibbing Community College and the University of Minnesota, Duluth.
