2009 E2T2 Grant
NESC was awarded a $150,000 grant under the Federal E2T2 program administered by the State of MN Department of Education.
Summary of Project:
The Northeast Service Cooperative (NESC) is submitting an Enhancing Education through Technology (E2T2) Grant application to provide professional development, implementation assistance and technical support for districts and schools to implement ARCC's Assessment Analysis Tools and Compass Learning’s Odyssey Solutions for Secondary Schools (CLOS). We are calling this project: Analyze Assessments & Prescribe Intervention (AAPI).
One goal of the AAPI project is to assist regional districts and schools in making individual student strand/sub-strand level MCA-II assessment history for Reading, Math and Science readily available to classroom teachers and to provide teachers with a tool that will help to focus instruction for students in their areas of need. The teacher tools in the Assessment Analysis package will be complimented by other tools directed at Curriculum Directors, Counselors and Principals.
ARCC’s Assessment Analysis Tools, combined with state assessment results, will provide classroom teachers with access to individual student’s state assessment history.
CLOS will provide teachers with additional assessment data and individualized interventions, which enable students to advance based on their skill level; ensuring that student learning is supported with solid foundational knowledge before advancing to new content. The CLOS management system tracks student progress, highlighting areas of difficulty so that teachers can differentiate instruction effectively.
Through the implementation of this project and the above mentioned programs districts, schools, and teachers will be better equipped to make data driven decisions that affect curriculum and student achievement. Teachers will be able to differentiate instruction for individual students, focusing the instruction on standards and benchmarks identified through the use of classroom and state assessment data.
We will also develop a regional training capacity in data use through a train-the-trainer model utilizing the Assessment Analysis Tools and other scientifically based data assessment practices. This User Group will share experiences and help insure the development of internal capacity, which is an essential element of school improvement.
