Next Steps for Connecting to Project

Northeast Minnesota Middle Mile Fiber Project
Inside Wiring & Electronics/Equipment

To get connected to the Northeast Minnesota Middle Mile fiber Project, anchors are responsible for inside wiring and electronics/equipment for each of the sites. Please keep in mind that you will need to have inside wiring complete and equipment in place prior to the estimated installation date on your Network Services Agreement to get connected to the project.

Inside Wiring

The Outside Plant Fiber is REQUIRED to be terminated within 50 feet of the initial building penetration as per ANSI/NFPA 70-1999, NEC. It is then required to be bonded to the "Common" ground. As a result any extension from the provider demarcation to the customers inside wiring closet or data center is the responsibility of the customer. Examples include: boiler room or electrical room.

NESC is able to provide this extended inside wiring service and will provide a quote, if requested.

For school districts or libraries, this may or may not be Erate eligible and NESC recommends that you consult your Erate specialist or contact SLD directly.

Here are references to various parts of the RUS specifications related to Buried Services grounding requirements.
