IT Lending Library for RUS

Vidyo allows districts without ITV equipment  to connect through NESC and participate in video field trips. Field trip sites, such as the the Minnesota Historical Society or the International Wolf Center, require a specific type of connection for video field trips. This connection can be made through NESC via Vidyo.

Here's what districts need to make Vidyo work for a video field trip in a classroom setting:

- A computer

- A high definition webcam

- An external microphone

- The Vidyo software. A Username and password are required.

- A projector or smartboard, so the class can view what's on the screen

As part of the RUS grant, the Northeast Service Cooperative currently has the following equipment and resources available for RUS grant participants:

- Webcams

- External microphones

- Access to Vidyo, a desktop application (a username and password are required).
This enables districts to integrate video in the classroom using this desktop application.

A lending library is being set up to enable educators to check out this equipment and get started on incorporating video in the classroom.

Here are equipment examples that would work for districts not a part of the RUS that that would like to purchase their own equipment:
- Webcam: Microsoft LifeCam Camera, True 720p HD with Clear Smooth Video.

- External Microphone: ClearOne Chat 150 USB, Group SpeakerPhone

To check out equipment from the IT Lending Library and to request a username and password, fill out the following form.

If you have any questions on the process, please contact Melissa Cox at 218-748-7609 or mcox@nesc.k12.mn.us
