Blind/Visually Impaired
The Northeast Service Cooperative Regional Low Incidence Project provides service to learners with a medical diagnosis of blind/visual impairment.
Services available:
- Provide service to Region 3 including functional vision assessments, IEP team membership, and general or student specific inservices.
- Provide resource information to families regarding specific eye diseases and other syndromes to help children function as independently as possible.
- Provide consultation to determine need for instructional materials, including adaptation of curriculum to large print, braille, tactile graphics, or other alternative forms which convey concepts being taught by the classroom teacher.
- Access to a certified regional Braillist who utilizes modern technology to produce educational daily classroom materials in braille.
- Orientation and Mobility Specialists are available for assessment, consultation and direct teaching of specific skills needed for safe, efficient and independent travel throughout their environments.
